internet sites
I am starting a list of internet sites that I have found for my Quilting guild.
It will include, naturally, quilting, but anything related to needlework. This is wide ranging. As it grows, I will probably develop categories to make searching easier for others .
I will comment on some and let some others ride due to my own time constraints.
As I search for my guild, I am the Librarian, I will add the sites, most likely they will be added on a monthly schedule because the recommendations will appear in the Guild's newsletter to its members.
I look forward to starting this list shortly. It will appear the July issue of the Guild's newsletter.

quilting
I have begun my new applique quilt. I love it. it is very soothing. the good part is that you don't have to finish the whole thing at once . Each block can be fisished and put away to save for the next addition. It can take as long or short as you want.
I am also in the process of making a wall hanging for my little leager. my printer can/t change size so I probably will go to kinkos to have his mfocus piture enlaged to the required size. I have found all the necessary illustrations for it on the net to be copied, glued and pasted the quilting way.It is a very short piece, probably going to take a few weeks. I have planned it all out on graph paper so I know the approximate sizes that I need. I have to find baseball fabric for the borders. he binding is easy.
granddaughter
I counseled my granddaughter completely wrong. and I fell awful. I have been her legal guardian since 2000. Her mother cannot parent . My granddaughter callled me to tell me that she made a decision to invite her mother to her graduation in from a very religious school. Her mother insisted on bringing her live in who is not of the same religion.
I feel terrible. This is not the first time my Granddaughter has experienced her rejection. I told her to write her feelings down and then when all finished tear them up and go on to focus on what is important to her which is her finals and graduation.

QUILTING
I HAVE FINISHED MY FIRST "HUG" QUILT. IT IS FOR THE MOTHER OF MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW WHO LIVES IN ENGLAND. THE COLORS:PURPLE,GREEN AND LAVENDER, WERE CHOSEN BY MY GRANDDAUGHTER, WHO IS ALSO HER GRANDDAUGHTER. HER MOTHER IS DYING OF CANCER OF THE LUNG WHICH HAS METASTASISED. SHE HAS NO CENTRAL HEATING AND LIVES IN A 28 ROOM HOUSE WHICH IS BASICALLY OWNED BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. IT IS CALLED A "TRUST".THERE IS ONLY ONE BATHROOM IN THE WHOLE HOUSE. IT IS UPSTAIRS. SO THESE TRUST ESTATES THAT TOURISTS SEE ARE NO FUN TO LIVE IN.

books quilting and other meanderings
I have just finished listening to a talking book on cd written by Sharyn McCrumb: The Ballad of Frankie Silver. She writes two consecutive stories woven into one novel. One of Jonnie Silver, a young appalachian woman of 18, hung for killing her husband and butchering his body. If this was not enough, she was also accused of burning the body .The other is a story of a middle aged man living on Death Row for murdering two young people who were walking on the Appalachian trail. All of this takes place in Tennesee.
Ms. McCrumb is a masterful storyteller. This book and many others that she writes are based on true events, backed by serious research.
I wish high school history classes could be taught using well written historical novels, well researched to provide a lead in to further learning.
The bilbliographies that she provides are for those such as myself to delve deeper and deeper into , in this case, the history of Appalachia. In such states as North Carolina, Tennesse and West Virgina.
Not enough has been written well to entice the reader.
